A common misconception about off site manufacture is that it’s for off the shelf, standard products only. Yet, there’s nothing off the shelf or standard about this project.

Cortek by SBS Group was recently awarded the contract to design and pre-fabricate ceiling modules for the new Creativity Centre – completely customised to suit the project application. Designed by Kneeler Design Architects, the 450 seat theatre challenged traditional construction methods with inspiring features – an ideal project for our framing technology.

On site tedious and laborious piece by piece construction was one option for the contractor – or the other was to engage in a custom pre-fabricated solution. With framing manufactured off site utilising light gauge steel in a quality controlled factory environment, modules can be delivered for quick installation – for a smarter, easier and most significantly, efficient on site build.

The Cortek design team developed an engineered system in coordination with the builder, architects and contractors for the Mentone Grammar ceiling feature and are now working through the initial drafting stages in view of commencing manufacture shortly.
