THE PROJECT CHALLENGE /
Many builders are choosing to replace timber and structural steel for top level wall and roof trusses with light gauge steel framing. Steel is proving to outperform timber with many short and long-term benefits. This was the case for the iconic waterfront Beach Road project in Beaumaris with Cortek Framing designing and delivering the pre-fabricated steel wall and roof truss framing.
THE CORTEK FRAMING STEEL SOLUTION /
Steel has a significantly greater strength-to-weight ratio than timber, allowing for wider spans. Cold formed steel also does not twist, shrink or bow.
With framing arriving on site straight, true and accurate to specifications, no straightening or planing was required once installed. As steel is also extremely durable, long-term protection is provided against rot, rust and termite attacks.
The steel framing system successfully combined multiple framing packages into one smart solution. The time and effort of coordinating and tendering timber walls, trusses and structural steel packages was therefore minimised.
