THE PROJECT /
The new Bunurong Memorial Park has transformed a traditional memorial park into a contemporary and inspiring community parkland. The Sanctuary – a reflection space partially suspended over the lake, was detailed with a sweeping ceiling and boasts stunning views.
THE CORTEK STEEL FRAMING SOLUTION /
The Cortek design team worked closely with the plastering contractor to challenge the status quo of time-consuming on site construction with pre-fabrication alternatives.
The final solution replaced the structural steel and secondary ceiling with lightweight 3D curved framing modules. Accurate and precise shop detailing and fabrication were undertaken in house with frames manufactured into manageable units and delivered to site for an quick and easy simple installation.
The rigid clinch riveted design proved superior to the originally documented furring channel system, removing the guesswork of forming the ceiling traditionally on site. Other added benefits included enabling the contractor to directly fix the linings to the framing.
