Project Overview
THE PROJECT /
Located in Mont Albert, the Mecwacare project involved the demolition of an existing aged care facility to construct a new state-of-the-art four-level residence.
This new development doubles the home’s capacity with a contemporary design and spacious layout, named after the late Simon Price, a long-serving Board Member and Life Governor.
THE CORTEK STEEL FRAMING SOLUTION /
The Cortek project scope included the design, engineering, fabrication, and delivery of steel wall frames and roof trusses for levels 2 and 3 for this aged care facility.
It is the ultimate goal of every major project to be completed on time and on budget. This project was no exception. Early involvement in the design process allowed Cortek to present a value-driven solution that saved the builder significant on-site expenses – eliminating the majority of structural steel.
Heavy and expensive structural steel was replaced with pre-fabricated load-bearing walls. Once on site, lightweight steel frames were designed for easy on site install, positively impacting the project’s schedule.
In the client’s own words:
After a challenging design phase Cortek really came into their own and provided a superb product on time and on budget, they also made easy work of the final inspection and certification process and we look forward to working with them again on the next project.
