THE PROJECT CHALLENGE /
Design, certify and fabricate a lightweight framing system to support the slotted panels for the V-shaped ceiling, avoiding the existing structure and large mechanical ducts while adhering to the project budget and schedule.
THE CORTEK STEEL FRAMING SOLUTION /
Having used Cortek Framing by SBS Group on previous projects, the contractor was confident a prefabricated system would overcome many challenges facing the construction teams.
A prototype was engineered and developed to ensure the frame modules would take the weight of the ceiling materials and lighting tracks, and be strong enough to be supported at each end without flexing. A sample frame was fabricated and suspended for the builder, architect and engineers’ approval before full production commenced.
The framing modules were manufactured in liftable sections for fast and easier install, minimising on site erection time. Framing layouts were also documented and supplied.
