THE PROJECT CHALLENGE /
Rising from behind a heritage listed facade, the contemporary style of Northwood Apartments combines the past with the present, offering 71 residences over 6 levels. As a smarter and easier alternative was required, Cortek worked alongside the builder to develop a steel frame solution that complimented the existing facade.
THE CORTEK FRAMING STEEL SOLUTION /
The system involved pre-fabrication modularised units to incorporate the corners and angles of the facade features.
Manufactured using light gauge steel and delivered with brackets and lifting hooks, the frames were craned in and fixed back to the slab once on site.
The Cortek design also enabled the face of the framing to be pre-clad before lifting. As a result, the installation process was streamlined, removing the need for top hats/battens and saving time and associated costs.
