Project Overview
THE PROJECT /
Looking to add a third location to an already impressive portfolio, Autumn Aged Care has commenced construction on its latest aged care facility, Skye Lodge Frankston.
Just a stone’s throw from beaches, shops and health services, Skye Lodge is the perfect place for senior citizens to enjoy retirement in the privacy of their own homes with the reassurance that 24/7 care and support is available from qualified aged care staff.
Due to open in 2022, the Skye Lodge residences are divided into three smaller communities with top level structure, lower level external walls as well as portico steel framing by Cortek.
THE CORTEK FRAMING STEEL SOLUTION /
Cortek Framing by SBS Group worked closely with the client’s own in-house design team to create the light gauge steel solution for the project.
During the design process, there were multiple project specific elements to be taken into consideration such as fire ratings, solar panel locations and ceiling hoist requirements in some of the bedrooms.
For this project, the non-combustible nature of steel was a key factor in the decision to use steel over traditional timber framing methods.
Tim from Aged Care Developments said “I am impressed with the lightness and straightness of the light gauge steel system. It is an added bonus that the frames are weather resistant so there’s less pressure to get the frames up if there are any unforeseen delays in the construction process.”
