Project Overview
THE PROJECT CHALLENGE /
Due to open in 2022, the newly constructed Wollert East Primary School is one of 100 new schools the Victorian School Building Authority and the Victorian Government is building by 2026.
Wollert East Primary School is a Supported Inclusion School which is a mainstream school with additional professional capabilities and facilities designed to cater to a higher proportion of students with disability.
In total there were 5 buildings that make up the development with facilities including two learning buildings, an administration office and a performing arts & PE building as well as a council learning centre.
THE CORTEK STEEL SOLUTION /
Due to supply and demand pressures in the Australian market, the builders were looking for a faster and readily available alternative to traditional timber frames.
During concept stage, the local Wollert community were surveyed for their valued input into their suburb’s new development. The feedback showed a preference for a sustainable and eco-friendly school, making steel an ideal framing choice for this project.
Speed and timing of the required wall and roof truss frames were crucial to adhere to the building and school opening schedule.
Cortek was able to accommodate and adhere to the schedule and the Truecore steel frames were 3D modelled, fabricated and delivered to site on schedule.
