THE PROJECT /

The Bacchus Marsh Grammar development involved the construction of a new Technology Education Building as part of the school’s continued expansion. Designed by McIldowie Partners, the building features a visually striking façade with complex geometry and multiple angled elements—presenting both a design highlight and a construction challenge.

The key challenge on this project was the unique cladded façade, which included numerous non-standard angles and design features. This complexity required a framing system that could provide precision, structural integrity, and support for the external finishes – without being overly heavy or difficult to work with onsite.

The builder and cladding team needed a framing solution that was not only structurally sound but also efficient to install within tight timelines.

THE CORTEK STEEL FRAMING SOLUTION /

Cortek became involved early in the project, offering design and technical support from the tender stage. Given the complexity of the building’s angled facade, our modular steel framing system was selected for its ability to deliver both structural performance and flexibility.

The frames were manufactured to precise specifications, aligning seamlessly with the architectural intent and allowing for straightforward coordination with other trades. Clear documentation and a well-planned delivery schedule helped streamline installation, keeping the project on track and reducing on-site time for the construction team.

In the client’s own words:

Cortek supplied the steel frames for the Technology Education Building project in Aintree and worked with us from the tender process. The frames were great quality, the drawings were clear, and our carpentry crew was able to install everything with ease. Their work helped us deliver a result we’re really proud of.

Cortek’s façade framing was straightforward & efficient to install tying in well with the external cladding requirements. Definitely a smarter approach than conventional methods.
