THE PROJECT /
The Dja Dja Wurrung Corporate & Community Centre (Larnangurrak) is a landmark project that celebrates culture and connection to Country. Inspired by the caves, rock formations and waterways of Dja Dja Wurrung Country, the building’s distinctive design reflects the landscape, stories and identity of its Traditional Owners.
Achieving the project’s complex curved forms required a solution that could deliver precise geometry while remaining practical to construct. The challenge was to maintain the architectural intent owithout relying on labour-intensive site fabrication methods or excessive structural steel.
THE CORTEK STEEL FRAMING SOLUTION /
Cortek provided engineered, pre-fabricated framing solutions for the curved internal walls and external facade. Each curved panel was manufactured off-site to the required radius and delivered ready for installation. This improved accuracy while significantly reducing on-site fabrication requirements, labour hours and installation time.
The framing system was engineered to replace substantial amounts of structural steel previously required to achieve the complex geometry. This reduced material requirements while minimising crane usage, handling, installation complexity and associated site costs.
The result was a more streamlined construction process with improved buildability and greater certainty around project delivery.
