Queens Carlton: Advanced Technology Supporting Innovative Off Site Solutions

Queens Carlton: Advanced Technology Supporting Innovative Off Site Solutions

With pre-fabrication contributing towards so many on site benefits, developers, builders and contractors are increasingly searching out off site solutions to reduce on site labour, remove access difficulties, minimise wastage and speed up project schedules with a view to improving productivity.

Cortek by SBS Group is utilising our new advanced technology, fabricating multiple framing systems off site for the Queens Carlton project. Using Bluescope’s 50 year warranty Truecore steel, manufacture of external wall panels, balcony surrounds and balustrades is underway, replacing unnecessary structural steel for quicker lead times.

Cortek was initially approached to design smarts for the project, working closely with the cladding contractor to identify efficient methods of constructing frames for easy on site installation, access and cladding requirements. Full shop detailing and engineering has been provided including frame layouts, enabling the cladding contractor to simply lift and install framing modules once on site.

The balustrade framing also adds another cost and time-saving benefit, acting as the building fall protection while the project is under construction.
