Structural Steel: Replaced with a Lightweight Frame Alternative

With construction methods rapidly moving to off site fabrication, more builders are now choosing to replace traditional top level structural steel with lightweight alternatives.

On site construction requires extensive planning and coordination of labour, other trades, delays including weather, RDO’s and other downtime, use of cranage and OHS regulations. By building off site in a quality controlled factory environment, the labour, time and costs associated are significantly reduced, resulting in greater productivity. And with greater productivity equals higher overall project profitability.

Manufacture of top level framing is currently underway for the Mosacia Apartments project in Maribyrnong, using lightweight steel to pre-fabricate straight and true framing to exact specifications. Framing is engineered and certified to meet BCA Australian Standards. The first of the framing was delivered to site this week for installation with further deliveries expected over the next month.
