This is One Project to Watch in 2017: Melbourne Airport T2 Luxury Retail Fit-Out

We have been awarded the contract to detail and pre-fabricate ceiling framing modules for the new Melbourne Airport T2 Luxury Retail fit-out project!

At 7-8m high, these modules aren’t your typical frame. But then again, Cortek by SBS Group isn’t your typical lightweight framing manufacturer either.

After progressively working through the construction scope with NH Architecture and Lend Lease, the design team proposed a simple lightweight alternative for the complex ceiling over against a traditional on site construction approach. The system has been value managed and fully engineered to support the rigid span.

Cortek by SBS Group then finalised preliminary engineering, drafting and coordination with the panel supplier ensuring smarts were applied at every step of the way.

From here, Cortek was commissioned to construct a prototype frame. After being inspected by the builder, architect, airport officials and other stakeholders, the prototype was approved. It really is a masterpiece of the experience, dedication and skill of the team here, bringing all the components together to finalise a viable solution.

With our design technicians completing the drafting, we expect the first frames to roll out of this factory early this year.

This is a perfect example of construction teamwork in action. A combined effort from the builder, architect, engineer and Cortek has allowed the concept to proceed to the manufacturing stage, saving valuable time and costs for involved. Using our 3D accurate framing technology, the modules will be fabricated here in our factory and then transported to site for installation.
